Privacy Policy

This policy explains what personal information Digital Starter Kit collects, why we collect it, how we look after it, and the choices you have. We handle your information in line with the Privacy Act 1988(Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs). It’s written in plain English on purpose — if anything here isn’t clear, just ask.

Who we are

Digital Starter Kit (“DSK”, “we”, “us”) is a trading name of Insufficient Funds Pty Ltd, ABN 97 643 281 136. We build and manage small-business websites. You can reach us about anything in this policy at hello@digitalstarterkit.au.

What we collect

When you use our enquiry form, we collect the details you choose to give us. That can include:

• your name;
• your email address;
• your phone number, if you give it (it’s optional);
• your business name, location or suburb, and a bit about what your business does and who your customers are;
• your Australian Business Number (ABN), if you give it (it’s optional), so we can confirm your business details when setting you up;
• links you share with us — your existing website or social pages, or sites you like the look of;
• what you’re after — your goals, brand ideas, and any note about logos or photos you have.

Businesses we come across in the field.Separately from the form, we sometimes note down a local business we think we could help — its name, roughly where it is, and a short note or photo of the shopfront — before we’ve had any contact with it. These records are usually about the business rather than about a person. Sometimes one includes a person’s name or contact details — from a sign on the door, say — and a business name can itself identify its owner, as it often does for a sole trader. Wherever that is so, this policy covers that information in exactly the same way as anything you send us yourself, and every right below — including asking us to delete it — applies to it.

We also keep the basic technical information our hosting creates automatically when any website runs — things like your IP address, browser type and the time of a request — which we use to keep the site secure and working. We don’t ask for sensitive information (such as health, financial-account or government-ID details), so please don’t send it through these forms. When you fill in a form, we tell you there and then why we’re asking.

Why we collect it, and how we use it

We use your information to:

• design and send you your free design preview;
• get in touch about getting you started, and answer your questions;
• work out which local businesses to reach out to about what we do, including from notes we take in the field;
• provide and look after your website if you go ahead;
• keep our forms secure and prevent spam and abuse; and
• meet our legal and tax obligations.

We don’t sell your information, and we don’t use it for unrelated marketing. We only use it for the reasons above, or for a closely related reason you’d reasonably expect.

Who we share it with

We’re a small operation and we use a handful of trusted service providers to run things. Your information passes through them only so we can do what’s set out above:

• Vercel — hosts the website and keeps server logs.
• Supabase — the secure database where form submissions are stored. Our database is hosted in Australia (Sydney).
• Our own automation server — routes a new enquiry on to the tools below.
• Slack — where our team gets an internal alert that a new enquiry has come in.
• Our email provider — so we can reply to you and send your design preview.

Some of these providers are based overseas — including in the United States — which means your information may be stored or processed outside Australia (this is the disclosure required by APP 8). We only share what’s needed for the job, and we choose providers that take security seriously. We’ll keep this list up to date as the tools we use change.

Cookies and analytics

We don’t use tracking or advertising cookies, and we don’t run website analytics at the moment. If you start filling in a form, your browser may save a draft of it on your own device so you don’t lose your place — that stays with you and isn’t sent to us until you submit. If we add privacy-respecting analytics later, we’ll update this policy first and ask for your consent where the law requires it.

How long we keep it, and how we protect it

We keep your information only as long as we genuinely need it — to respond to your enquiry, and, if you become a customer, for as long as you’re with us plus a reasonable period afterwards (including to meet record-keeping and tax obligations). After that we delete or de-identify it. We take reasonable steps to protect your information, including access controls, encryption in transit, and a database locked down so only our own systems can reach it.

Accessing or correcting your information

You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it if it’s wrong, or ask us to delete it. Just email hello@digitalstarterkit.au and we’ll sort it out. We’ll verify it’s really you first, and there’s no charge for asking.

Complaints

If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, please tell us first at hello@digitalstarterkit.au — we’ll take it seriously and do our best to put it right. If you’re still not satisfied, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle your information, we’ll update this page. Last updated September 2026.
